What is W-Biz Insight?
W-Biz Insight is the first national, online, representative research panel of women business owners, providing actionable insight to decision makers, policy makers, marketers, and women business owners themselves worldwide. W-Biz Insight amplifies the voices of this nation's 10+ million women business owners.

Why should I participate?
By sharing knowledge about yourself, your business and your opinions on a variety of topics, you a) LEARN by seeing where your business stacks up against other businesses like yours (a true benchmark) and through the reports generated as a result of the surveys; b) you participate in shaping products, programs and services offered to women business owners; c) you amplify the presence and voice of ALL women business owners by shaping policy, perceptions and public awareness of enormous power and economic clout that women business owners and entrepreneurs own.

How can I participate?
If you are a woman business owner over the age of 18 and own 25 percent or more of a company, large or small, then we need your insights and opinions. Go to the panel website (www.w-bizinsight.org) and fill out a short participant profile about you and your business. It should only take about 10 minutes and at the conclusion you will be sent a link via email confirming your registration as a panelist.

How often will I be asked to participate in a study & how much time will each study take?
Once registered as a panelist, you will be offered the opportunity to participate in studies periodically throughout the year. Some studies will be focused on certain criteria, i.e., having a business in California; other studies will be more general in nature. We hope that you will participate in a minimum of four studies per year. These are SHORT, QUICK surveys which will take you no more than 10 minutes to complete!

What are the criteria for participation and can men business owners participate?
All members of the W-Biz Insight panel must be women over the age of 18 who own 25 percent or more of a business. The business can be located anywhere in the world, be at any revenue level, and in any industry.
As part of the registration process, we will ask you basic questions about your business to help us categorize our panelists in ways that facilitate our research. Information collected from you at any point in your tenure as a panelist either through the initial questionnaire or through your responses to a study is protected vigorously. We promise to use the information you provide only in aggregate for legitimate research purposes. Click here for our privacy policy.

Men business owners are not being invited to join the panel at this time. This criterion does not eliminate women who own 25 percent or more of a business that also has men owners

Can I be paid for participating?
The Women's Business Research Center is a non-profit research organization. To protect the integrity of our research results, we do not compensate panel members for participation. However, you may be offered incentives from our sponsors as a "thank you" for enrolling and/or participating in certain research studies.

How will the research be used?
Panelists contribute to our greater understanding of the challenges and opportunities women face as they start, operate and grow businesses. This knowledge is critical to ensuring that women business owners receive the best in programs, products, services, and influences public policy.

This research panel will strengthen our ability to provide actionable knowledge about relevant issues for and about women business owners. It decreases time required for primary research in key issue areas; increases the representation of all segments of women business owners including those with higher revenue businesses; and expands the types of research that can be done.

While we are not a market research organization, occasionally surveys will have questions from our sponsors about products and services, as well as buying decisions. Participation in any study is always at the discretion of the panelist and participants may opt out at any point in the process of responding to a survey.

Are my specific responses going to be made available online?
No. We protect your personal information vigorously and will never disclose to external parties any individually identifying information about our panelists either online or in print. We promise to use the information you provide only in aggregate for legitimate research purposes. Click here for our privacy policy.

We also promise not to share the list of our research panelists with sponsors or other external parties.

How representative is the population of woman business owners on the panel?
As part of the registration process, prospective panelists are asked several demographic questions about themselves and their business through a profiling questionnaire. If representation in certain categories is determined to be too low, i.e., revenue level, number of employees, age of business owner, etc., we focus targeted recruiting efforts on that category to ensure full representation.
